Trent Lott - RushOnline.com
Oh man, what's the big deal? He said something silly, that doesn't
even pertain to today. If we threw out every senator , or congressman
for saying something silly, we would be in big trouble. I wish we
could get all members of congress to resign so we can instill some
real conservatives in our goverment and reall get us back on track.

Subject: Sen. Lott
Yet another liberal double standard!! Sen. Lott make's an unfortunate
comment, then later tries to retract it. The liberal democratic
commentariat replies "No, you can't take it back. You were
telling the truth when you made that comment, and you must suffer
the consequences!"
Have they completely forgotten the Monica Lewinsky scandal when
former President Clinton lied under oath telling us that "I
did not have sex with that woman"? Later he retracted that
statement and asked that we all forgive him. The democrats in congress
unanimously demonstrated their forgiveness when they stood united
in their support for him in the impeachment trials. Does this imply
that democratic leaders can be selectively exhonerated when they
tell a lie, while replublican leaders are either always truthful
in their comments or are exempt from forgiveness when they "misspeak"?

I just wanted to send a few lines about Trent Lott. My family and
myself are concerned about the fact everytime someone gets a chance
to make a big deal of nothing a REPUBLICAN leaves office, you know
the list. We as AMERICANS and REPUBLICANS are thinking that going
to the polls is a wast of time. Some one (maybe you) needs to let
these people /Nickels/Rowe/Sharpton/ national org. of old Bags and
others that we are tired of the crap.
Also these public officials need to be told we did not send them
to WASHINGTON to play KING OF THE HILL. If we did we would bulldoze
up a pile of dirt on a island some where. We just finished a election
and they are already on the stump for the next. We are beginning
to think some of these guys are democrats dressed up as republicans.
Thankyou for time and service and the best of the hollidays.

Free Pass for Bigotry on GMA
On Good Morning America (GMA) on Dec 17th, Robin Roberts interviewed
an
African-American man who seemed to be in the entertainment business.
During the course of the interview, Ms Roberts chose to ask this
man his desires re whether Senator Trent Lott should or should not
be Senate Majority Leader and should or should not stay in the Senate.
During thecourse of stating his opinion, the African-American man
twice called Mr. Lott "a redneck".
Ms. Roberts did not confront the man she was interviewing re his
blatantly bigotted/racist remarks. She did not even have the common
decency to stammer, blink, wince or even tense up in the face of
his disgusting, hateful & race-baiting behavior.
ABC should take out full page ads in the New York Times, Washington
Times, Washington Post, LA Times, etc and apologize on air on ABC
Nightly News. Robin Roberts should be publicly reprimanded &
required to contritely apologize (showing she really means it "from
the heart") for allowing the racist/bigotted/recebaiting remarks
made on-air to go unchallenged. Did she not take action because
she's got the personal problem of racism & bigotry "in
her heart"?
Think of what Ms. Roberts, ABC, and major media outlets would have
done if a caucasian had called Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton a racist
term of a different color.
Apparently sensitivity to hateful racist/bigotted/racebaiting remarks
or behavior only runs one way at ABC.
Have a Great Day!

I would like to know in this day an age why we are ousting a man
of great magnitude, for a remark he made to make an old man feel
good. Are the dems that afraid of his power. Also, I have a problem
with his remark being made a big deal when over the summer on one
of the big news channels was airing the reparations for slavey rally
and a black senator got up on stage all into his little speech and
said he should go out on the sidewalk and smack the first white
man he sees. Is this not racial or what? I am sure if someone ask
for the footage they will see this for themselves.
Also I believe Senator Clinton should keep her mouth shut on the
matter seeing how she only moved to New York to become a senator,
why did she not go back to her home state of Arkansas, is that not
in the south. Maybe Bill has to many girlfriends at home.
thank you

MegaDittos from Redland Central(the Socialist state of Minnesota),
Why do Republicians have to exist in state of double standards?
It is now time to Demand--not ask-- for the resignations of Mssrs.
Hollings, Byrd, and Sen Hilary Clinton. If Democrats want to hold
Republicians liable for things said 40-60 years ago, we should also
hold these sanctimonius power-fixated hypocrites to the same standards.
Sen. Byrd wore a Klan robe-fine-the American people want his resignation.
Sen. Hollings put the Confederateflag up in South Carolina-OK- we
want his resignation too. Sen. Clinton's husband made remarks praising
segregation 40+ years ago--get her out of office also. It is time
for tit for tat.--take the gloves off and deny the Democratic party
any access to office. This party is trying to gain one of the branches
of government by accusation-deny them this victory.
Signed, Douglas

I feel I just must get this off my mind. I am an average middle
class American. I have always voted as an independent, but as of
late have been voting Republican. I have never witnessed such a
childish display among adults as this ravaging of Senator Trent
Lott. Every person with half a brain knows Senator Lottmade a stupid
remark. He made it to please an old man on his 100th birthday. Enough
is Enough! I like many of my friends feel that the Democrats and
black caucus, knowing that they had lost power, clung to Lotts remarks
like drowning men to a life raft. I think they will soon realize
the raft has a leak. I am ashamed that the Republicans did not do
more to stand by their man. He is most obviously not a racist. He
has shown himself to be a good man for many years
..
I would like all the voting records of the past 40 years of all
Senators looked into. I am sure there would be more then a few surprises.
The world has changed greatly in the past 40 years, as have the
thoughts of people who grew up during that time. They Democrats
may be able to feed that racist garbage to some of their unschooled
followers but not to main stream America. I give much credit to
Trent Lott for stepping down in the face of all that has happened.
He is a good man who made a tragic misspeak, he has been heaped
with abuse because of it. By the way what ever happened to free
speech. I hope he will now show how really great a man he is and
stay in the Senate and fight for his beliefs. I am sure that Lott
in stepping down has not ended this matter, the Dem.'s are showing
how desperate they are. Grow up Senators, Congressmen and women,
our great leaders of 2002. Lets us try to work together instead
of wasting our time bickering over the remarks made in haste and
without forethought at a birthday party. We might be soon interring
a war, let save out energy for that.

I feel that Sen. Lott was not addressing any tanants of segregation
in his salutations. In '48 as you know, we were in the beginnings
of the Korean War, the Cold War, within 13 years we were involved
with the Bay of Pigs and our buildup in Viet Nam. The terrorist
bombings and hijackings were getting started in the '60s with Russian
and Chinese aid. I felt that this was what Sen. Lott was adressing.
Respectfully,
Andrew

Strom Thurman Vs H Truman - Date: Sun, Dec 15 09:04 PM
I do not see what all of the fuss is about. I do not see anything
racist about his comments. To me it was obvious that he was referring
to the mess that Truman made in Korea which set the country up for
the loss in Vietnam. Where is there a mention of race in his comments?
Would the country not have been better off if we had not had him
and his Missouri national guard adviser for Korea?
Thank you,
George

.The Democrats are trying to ruin Trent Lott and bring down the
Republican party any way they can. They are supposed to be the party
of compassion. I thought we are supposed to forgive and forget.
Now who is being mean spirited? Hmmm?
Can you tell me whatever happened to Dick Gephart? Why isn't he
out preaching about the politics of personal destruction like he
did when Bill Clinton was having his fling with Monica Lewinski?
Hmmmm?
I honestly believe the Republican Party should rally around Trent
Lott the same way the Democrats did with Bill Clinton. As for Hillary.............I
am ashamed that the people of New York State elected that carpet
bagger to be our senator. What a farce.

Interesting how Lott's birthday wishes received little notice till
some insecure person of color read racism into his generalized comments.
Even "coy","both-sides-of-his mouth" Daschle
knows better than to jump into the dirt-digging, flame-throwing
melee...until he decides the political winds are blowing in his
favor.
It annoys me that many people seem to think that falsely attacking
another will further their own agenda. Their paranoid attitudes
ought to hurt their causes. Do you ever wonder if these people are
as offended as they let on? I believe Lott should turn the tables
on bleeding heart liberals, political gainsayers and those who use
their skin color for self profit.
He is right to refuse to step down as Senate Leader. And he should
quit apologizing for something THEY purposely misunderstood. I hope
his critics are seen for what they are: whinning adolescents who
refuse to get off their pity pots.

IT IS UTTERLY INSANE THAT THIS AMOUNT OF COVERAGE IS BEING GIVEN
TO THIS TOPIC BY THE MEDIA. THE MAN MADE A STATEMENT DURING A B-DAY
PARTY THAT IN OF ITSELF WAS JUST A COMMENT OF HOW GOOD THIS MAN
REALLY WAS AT HIS JOB. TAKING OUT OF CONTEXT WHAT YOU WANT TO CAN
BE DONE TO ANYTHING. WHAT A BUNCH OF CRAP. NO WONDER PEOPLE ARE
SICK AND TIRED OF THE DEMOCRATS AND LIBB'S.
WE HAVE SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN AROUND THE WORLD TAKING CARE OF REAL
ISSUES THAT COULD INVOLVE THEIR OWN DEATH AND ALL WE CAN DO AS A
COUNTRY IS WORRY ABOUT WHAT ONE MAN DIDN'T SAY, BUT RATHER WHAT
HE MAY OF REALLY BEEN THINKING WHEN HE SAID IT. HOW HIPPOCRATIC
BY SOME PEOPLE WHEN NOT TOO LONG AGO WE HAD BILL CLINTON DOING AND
SAYING THINGS THAT DID MORE DAMAGE THAN LOTT COULD EVER DO.
ALL OF THIS MAKES ME WANT TO MOVE TO BOLIVIA.

All of the millions of words about Trent Lott and noboby gets it.
The world would have been different had Strom Thurmond been elected
instead of Harry Truman. There would have been no Korean War. Truman
only sent our troops to Korea because the economy was bad. Truman
was reuthless, I was there and I know. You could also say the same
thing about Johnson and the Viet Nam war. Yes things would have
been different and they have nothing to do with integration which
would have come because it is right.
