Open Letter From Michigan Military Families to John Kerry Regarding His Stance on The War on Terror George W. Bush ^ | July 29, 2004

Dear Senator Kerry: Since beginning your campaign for President, you have consistently highlighted your military service as one reason why voters should support your candidacy. You have consistently implied that your military service has prepared you to serve in our country’s highest office.

However, we have grave concerns about positions you have taken that affect our men and women in uniform. You voted in favor of going to war with Iraq. In fact, your speeches in the Senate clearly expressed support for not only military action in Iraq, but also the removal of Saddam Hussein.

However, as your campaign for President failed to gain momentum, your views on Operation Iraqi Freedom changed. At one point, you even declared yourself an anti-war candidate. While your position on the war has changed multiple times, what’s been most troubling is your failure to support our sons and daughters serving in combat.Your vote against the $87 billion to fund our troops was unconscionable. You said it would be “irresponsible” to vote against the $87 billion - then you voted against it.

Now both you and your running mate say you are “proud” of your vote against the very funding that is providing our troops with body armor, equipment, combat pay, and health benefits. You tout your own military experience, but turn your back on the people who are currently defending our country. Leaders must make principled decisions that require conviction.

You appear to make decisions based upon perceived popular opinion. American troops have nobly put themselves on the frontlines to protect our freedom. They and their families deserve a leader who will stand with them regardless of circumstance. You, sir, owe our troops and their families a clear explanation for your lack of support.

Kerry begins with the premise that the French (always, he seems obsessed with the French) will carry a considerable amount of the burden in Iraq, all we must do is ask politely. Not only will this never happen, it is not desirable......

Ed Koch: I'm voting for Bush; New York Democrat: Kerry doesn't have stomach to go after terrorists WorldNetDaily.com ^ | Wednesday, August 25, 2004 | Aaron Klein

"While I don't agree with Bush on a single domestic issue, they are all trumped by the issue of terrorism, where he has enunciated the Bush Doctrine and proven his ability to fight this war," said Koch. "The Democratic Party just doesn't have the stomach to go after terrorists."

"I saw Kerry surrounded by radical politicians like [former President Jimmy] Carter and [Sen. Ted] Kennedy. ... I know Kerry will succumb to their pressure if elected. They are with Kerry not because they like him, but because their true candidate Howard Dean couldn't get elected, and they wanted someone who they can have elected and dominate," charged Koch.

"Kerry says now that he'd stay in Iraq, but the people who support him would get out tomorrow. If he's president, they would pressure him to do that," Koch said. "They don't care what Kerry says now. They believe he is saying things simply to ingratiate himself with mainstream Democrats and some Republicans."

The Republican National Committee has released a "documentary" to counter Michael Moore's film "Fahrenheit 9/11." The film (available for viewing at www.rnc.org) chronicles John Kerry's statements about Iraq and proves to all but the most partisan that this is a man who is a political opportunist and a vacillator who cannot be trusted with the power of the presidency.

NYT- Saddam, the Bomb and Me (by Mahdi Obeidi, Iraq Nuclear Weapons Scientist) -

( Mahdi Obeidi is the author of "The Bomb in My Garden: The Secrets of Saddam's Nuclear Mastermind." Kurt Pitzer, who collaborated on the book, assisted with this article.)

Submitted by Tamsey

An excellent editorial written by one of Saddam's nuclear weapon scientists (the scientist caught with nuclear lab equipment buried in his garden last year). Some points to be made from Obeidi's information..... Kerry voted against the Gulf War. Had Kerry been in the White House at that point, Saddam would have had nuclear weapons by the mid-90's. And per Obeidi, the sanctions were only thing delaying Saddam from restarting his nuclear weapons program. The American left lobbied hard for the last few years to drop the sanctions against Iraq.

"Was Iraq a potential threat to the United States and the world? Threat is always a matter of perception, but our nuclear program could have been reinstituted at the snap of Saddam Hussein's fingers. The sanctions and the lucrative oil-for-food program had served as powerful deterrents, but world events - like Iran's current efforts to step up its nuclear ambitions - might well have changed the situation."
