rush-limbaugh-mark-steyn

Mark Steyn is guest-hosting for Rush today.

On the scandalous use of American taxpayers' money.

By May this year... some four trillion dollars of our debt... was owned by foreigners, and somewhere between two-fifths and half of that was held by the Chinese. Now if you look at that we spend about 660 billion dollars on our military. The Chinese spend about 100 billion on theirs. So what that means is by about the year 2015, America will be paying the entire cost of the Chinese military. Who pays for these aircraft carriers that China is developing? Who pays for these new missiles that China is developing? You do. The scandal isn't that American, as Obama said last night, you know what he thinks is the big scandal, that American taxpayers' money paid for the U.S. military to invade Iraq – the scandal is that American taxpayers' money is going to be paying for the Chinese military to invade Taiwan.

8/31/2010

conservative talk

Mark Belling is guest-hosting for Rush today.

On the costs of Obamacare, hitting consumers just before the November elections.

Each time you go to the doctor your co-pays are going to go up. The co-pays for the prescription coverage – likely to go up. You're going to be nickel and dimed right and left. And that nickel and dime, which is actually more like fives, tens and twenties – those fives, tens and twenties are going to come out of money that you can spend elsewhere in the economy. This is a huge hidden tax. You may not want to call it a tax, but it's money that's going to be taken out of the private economy, taken away from employers, taken away from you, to put into this huge, massive bureaucracy that we're establishing to run nationalized health care. It's going to be terrible for the economy, it's going to make your coverage worse, it's going to make insurance an even more difficult and problematic thing than it is currently – with what improvement? What do we get out of this? So I'm going to pay more for my health insurance, and then I'm gonna pay more every time I go to the doctor, I'm going to pay more each time I get a prescription – what's the up-side for me? And we're going to vote for Democrats now because they've done this?

8/30/2010

conservative talk
Mark Belling is guest-hosting for Rush today.

On the new, activist spirit sweeping American conservatives.

Conservatives are generally people who have lives, and families, and jobs. You're gonna do something then go out and watch a baseball game or put something on television or go do something with your kids, or go out with some friends – plus you gotta work the next day. It's lefties that have the time to do all this activism stuff. It's the stuff that they get off on, they're the ones that are in their 50s and 60s who still dream back misty-eyed about how much they loved the protests of the 60s and the 70s. It's what gave their lives meaning. Conservatives generally have more going on, than to show up at a rally and clap for a speaker. Yet it's happening now. Why? There is, in this country, a major – and legitimate – backlash to what President Obama and the Pelosi/Reid congress are trying to do to our country.

8/27/2010

doug-urbanski-rush-limbaugh

Doug Urbanski is guest-hosting for Rush today.

On liberal notions of national security.

We're told by the Left that the way to achieve peace – let me get this straight – is through weakness. So the theory is – verified throughout history – that bullies will always choose the strongest kid on the block to pick on. So it is the victim's military powers that encouraged the Germans to invade Belgium in 1914 or Poland in 1939.

8/26/2010

rush-limbaugh
On greed.
Have you noticed how everybody's greedy except for politicians and public union employees... but the real greed in our country is in Washington D.C. The real greed is with people who work for government, who cannot do with a dime less than they had last year.

8/25/2010

rush-limbaugh
On legislators who don't read the laws they supposedly write.
Do you know that Max Baucus admitted in a town meeting he did not read the health care bill? He's the author of Obamacare in the Senate. And Max Baucus admitted that he didn't even read it – he said "No! It's a lot of legalese. We have experts to do that. I don't think my constituents would want me to waste my time reading a bunch of statutory language." So the author – the guy who wrote it told his constituents he didn't know what was in it. They have experts for that. He was very proudly admitting this. Proudly stating he had not read the Obamacare bill 'cause it would be a waste of his time. Do you know what's a waste of our time, money and liberty is Democrats.

8/24/2010

talk-radio

Walter Williams is guest-hosting for Rush today. Rush will be back on Wednesday.

On taxation and theft.

I think that it is noble and praiseworthy and laudable to help your fellow man in need. And, I think that helping one's fellow man in need by reaching into your own pockets to do so is praiseworthy and laudable. Helping your fellow man by reaching into somebody else's pockets is despicable and worthy of condemnation. And for those of us who are Christians, we have to keep in mind, that when God gave Moses the commandment "Thou Shalt Not Steal", He didn't mean that thou shalt not steal unless you got a majority vote in congress. It's an absolute "Thou Shalt Not Steal."

8/23/2010

rush-limbaugh
On the politics of illusion and disillusionment.
It's not Obama's fault for not representing the greatness of America. It's our fault for not understanding the greatness of Obama. It's our fault for not understanding and accepting the perfect phony-baloney resume of the guy that they created. And that he lived off of by the way.

8/20/2010

rush-limbaugh
On President Obama's personality.
I think Obama is aloof, he's disconnected, he is condescending, he's stubborn, he is devoted to outmoded, failed economic ideas, he is destroying this country, whether by accident or by design. He's an elitist who thinks he's smarter than everybody in the room. I think there's a personality quirk, to understand Obama and I've referenced this countless times. This is the guy, who if he ever got a 'C' the professor would turn it into an 'A'. This is a guy who has been told how smart he is all of his life – and he has believed it.

8/19/2010

rush-limbaugh
On the home mortgage deduction.
How do you like hearing it? How do you like hearing it folks that our "wizards of smart" in Washington are now examining your mortgage interest deduction on the basis that they aren't getting a big enough bang for the buck? That it really isn't helping Washington – it really isn't helping government and so we're gonna have to look at this now.

8/18/2010

rush-limbaugh
On liberal columnists warning Republicans not to speak out on the Ground Zero Mosque.
Notice that the Muslims' right to freedom of religion trumps our freedom of speech. We're being told to shut up, because it might hurt Republicans in November... well they can cower all they want in retirement. I'm gonna continue to do and say what I think is right.

8/17/2010

rush-limbaugh
On those shovel-ready jobs.
What happened to all of those shovel-ready jobs we were promised a year and a half ago with the stimulus bill? ... it looks to me like the only shovel-ready job is gonna be the job of burying the Democrat party, 'cause I'll tell you who's got the shovels is us. And who's shovel ready is Democrats.

8/16/2010

rush-limbaugh
On pressures exerted on the public by the media to accept a lower standard of living under Democrat rule.
The new normal is 30 luxury rooms in a five-star European resort for Mooch-elle Obama. But the new normal for us is to tighten our belts and to accept excrement sandwiches, some days with mustard and some days not... where do we go to get the old normal back?

8/13/2010

rush-limbaugh

On the folly of putting government in charge of everything.
Look at what's happened. Jobs have been lost. Property values plummeted. Tourism devastated. To this moment the oil industry shut down in the Gulf of Mexico. For no reason whatsoever. And I just want to repeat, these are the same people that you've put in charge of healthcare. These are the same people you've put in charge of running Obama Motors, the same people you've put in charge of running our financial system.

Barack Hoover Obama, doing to the US economy what Godzilla did to Tokyo...

8/12/2010

rush-limbaugh
On Democrats' bleak electoral prospects this November.
The only option [Democrats] have is bashing Bush, and that's not a good one but it's the best one they've got. They cannot point to anything they've done, with pride. In fact they're being told not to brag. They're being told not to run on their accomplishments.

8/11/2010

rush-limbaugh
On the impossibility of meeting the demands of today's civil rights activists.
What could we do to satisfy Jesse Jackson? What could we do to satisfy Al Sharpton? What could we do to satisfy Benjamin Jealous, who runs the NAALCP? What could we do to satisfy Maxine Waters? What could we do to satisfy Calypso Louis? C'mon, somebody tell me. What can we do to satisfy the race baiters? What could we do – even if we fully and totally laid down and agreed with them? They'd not stop. They wouldn't accept it. They would accuse us of lying. They have to keep racial flames burning, so they can keep making money. It's their way of life. So they can continue to keep people divided. It's their route to wealth.

8/10/2010

rush-limbaugh
On the plight of President Obama's economic advisors.
So now we have this story Obama's economic team is "exhausted". Why? They didn't even have to come up with the idea – Karl Marx did all the heavy lifting here. There's no innovation in this theory. It's all from the Communist Manifesto. It's all from the Socialists. They (Obama's advisors) haven't had to do anything but implement it. What's so damn hard? They haven't had to think of anything.

8/9/2010

rush-limbaugh-show

Karl Rove is guest-hosting for Rush today. Rush will be back on Tuesday.

On the moral dimension of cutting taxes.

There is a moral dimension to taxes. There ought to be a limit to what government can take from any one individual. If the government can say "We want to take 40% of these peoples' money", they can say "We want to take 40% of everybody's money." And that's exactly what happens with tax rates. We ought to say there ought to be a limit. We live in a country that values individual enterprise and personal responsibility and individual freedom, and the more the government takes out of your pocket, the less we have of all three of those things.

8/6/2010

rush-limbaugh
On the lavish lifestyles of Barack and Michelle Obama.
They preach against capitalism while living off of it. The Obamas have not done a day's worth of work in their lives to generate this kind of lifestyle for themselves. They are living off of you, and every one of us ... They are living a lifestyle they have not earned. And they're living it off the taxpayers, while criticizing the very system that enabled them to live this way.

8/5/2010

rush-limbaugh
On Judge Vaughn Walker's overturning of Proposition 8 in California.
He even gets to the point of practically saying that marriage is an act of discrimination by homophobic heterosexuals, and that marriage has been, for generations, an act of homophobia perpetrated by heterosexuals.

8/4/2010

rush-limbaugh
On the passage of Proposition C in Missouri.
The new American Dream is repealing Obamacare. The overwhelming passage of Proposition C in Missouri – this is the first vote ... on the new American Dream, removing Obama from our lives and repealing Obamacare. Not just Obamacare – but Obama – and his entire unconstitutional prosperity-killing policies and agenda.

8/3/2010

rush-limbaugh
On the Ground Zero Mosque approved today by New York City's Landmarks Commission.
Now we get to see a real race, ladies and gentlemen. Now we get to see a real race. Who will get their project built faster – the new Freedom Tower – will it go up faster? Or will the new mosque, at Ground Zero, go up faster. My money's on the mosque.

8/2/2010

rush-limbaugh
On Chelsea Clinton's wedding.
The Clinton wedding was the Clintons admitting that trickle-down economics works, that supply-side economics works. Look at all the people that got paid. Look at all the people that were hired. And it took a bunch of high-earners to do it... I guarantee you not one of the vendors at the Clinton wedding is upset that anybody spent $10,000 on a cake. I'll bet you the cake baker loves it.

7/30/2010

limbaugh
On the Democrat party, governing against the will of the people.
We've finally reached the pinnacle of what it means to be a Democrat. And that is, "Screw you." You don't like what we're doing? Here's more of it. You vote against us? Here's how you're gonna pay for it. You don't like our legislative agenda? Here it is, rammed down your throat, and in other orifices.

7/29/2010

limbaugh
On new federal regulations requiring mortgage brokers to be fingerprinted.
This is how the ruling class does it. They create the problem. They force the lenders to make the mortgages, the loans, to people who'll never be able to pay them back. And then when that causes a financial meltdown, blame the people who were forced to do it under duress and pressure. The very federal government that made them issue those loans now is making them be fingerprinted.

7/28/2010

rush-limbaugh
On Judge Susan Bolton's ruling to block parts of Arizona Immigration Law SB1070.
This, I believe, will seal the fate of the Democrats in November... Muslim terrorists are gonna have a field day in Arizona. Cannot ask them where they're from. Cannot even act like we know where they're from. Cannot ask them for their papers. We can ask you for yours – not them.

7/27/2010

rush-limbaugh
On the Left's hatred of freedom.
There is hatred for the notion of freedom. There's hatred for the notion of liberty. There is a genuine hatred for the way the country was founded. And it's taught. You don't grow up that way... you think Obama likes freedom? Freedom's the biggest threat to Obama's agenda that there is.

7/26/2010

limbaugh
On the Obama Administration's appeasement of Islam.
Information about the White House backing the release of the Lockerbie bomber was never supposed to see the light of day ... but it has. This is the same regime that desperately wants to try Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in New York City, the same regime that wants NASA to help Muslims feel better about themselves in math and science, the same regime that has not said a word about a mosque at Ground Zero, which is opposed, by I think even 71% of New Yorkers and throughout the country.

7/23/2010

rush-limbaugh
On the government's insatiable appetite for tax revenue.
[Tim] Geithner is upset. Here's a man who's never worked a day in his life in the private sector. Here's a man who's never met a payroll ... Geithner said he's upset that Congress does not fix the situation that denies the Treasury billions in unpaid taxes from wealthy Americans who die this year. It's not 'unpaid taxes'. The tax rate is zero. Nobody's skipping out on taxes. The tax rate – the estate tax, the death tax, is zero.

7/22/2010

rush-limbaugh
A comparison of Presidents Clinton and Obama.
Clinton said, "I feel your pain." And Clinton pretended to be hurt by the pain we were having that he was feeling. Well Obama is delivering the pain. Obama delivers the pain on a silver platter, and he really, really likes it.

7/21/2010

limbaugh
On the virulent hatred of Rush revealed by the JournoList scandal.
It's not just that they hate how I became who I am. They literally hate who I am. They literally hate me. They hate me – these journalists, these so-called "journalists" hate me because I am the most prominent, effective, unrelenting voice of conservatism and they haven't been able to stop me.

7/20/2010

rush
On what Barack Obama thinks of America's Founding Fathers.
Barack Obama is closer to King George than he is to the founders of the United States of America. What the founders created has now come full circle, to where it is clear that Barack Obama is more comfortable with what the founders left, than with what they created. Barack Obama, probably in his heart and mind, has a greater affinity for that which our founders rebelled against than he does for that which our founders founded.

7/19/2010

rush-limbaugh
On why, historically, Republicans don't challenge Democrats more aggressively in Washington D.C.
People never really get out of high school. The whole concept of the Big Clique, and wanting to be part of it, dominates everybody's life. The quest for power, the quest for acceptance, the quest to be in the "in crowd", however it's defined... Washington is dominated, politically and socially, by Democrats. By the Left. The Republicans also live there. Everybody wants to get along with who you live next to.

7/16/2010

Rush - Limbaugh

Mark Davis is guest-hosting for Rush today. Rush will be back on Monday.

On Senator Scott Brown's 'yes' vote enabling Dodd-Frank finance reform to pass.

There are times when he (Brown) will make our teeth itch. This is one of those times ... do we go "tea party" on him? And make him pay next time in the primaries, or do we do that at our peril — it's Massachusetts — just hand that seat back to a Democrat if the conservative we want gets the nomination.

7/15/2010

limbaugh
On new healthcare "rules" issued by President Obama.
The White House issued new rules. By fiat. This is reported as though it's good, it's common, it's exactly what life should be like. The White House on Wednesday issued new rules requiring health insurance companies to provide free coverage for dozens of screenings, laboratory tests, and other types of preventive care. With a snap of the fingers, the waving of a supposed magic wand ... Obama just forced private-sector business, industry, to give away a hunk of their business for free... But they can't — there is no free lunch. Somebody's gonna pay for this and guess who it is? All you people who make less than $250,000 (who) thought you weren't gonna get a tax increase? Guess what? You're gonna join all the rest of everybody else and you're gonna be paying for this.

7/14/2010

rush-limbaugh
On the state of the economy under President Obama and the Democrats.
Democrats are finding out, it's a lot easier to destroy the economy than it is to fix it. And make no mistake: they are the ones who broke the economy. 2007 — George W. Bush's final budget deficit — 161 billion dollars. Barack Obama — national debt has risen 2.4 trillion dollars in the 500 days since Obama was immaculated. That's an average of nearly 5 billion dollars per day.

7/13/2010

limbaugh
On the passing away of Yankees owner George Steinbrenner.
George Steinbrenner. That cracker was a great capitalist, and he made many African-Americans who worked for him millionaires, as a lot of capitalists do. But he also as a good capitalist knew when to die. There is no death tax. George Steinbrenner's family this year will not have to cough up 55% of what they inherit and perhaps lose the New York Yankees.

7/12/2010

rush-limbaugh
On the Democrat party and illegal immigrants.
Which accusation here is correct? ... White people desperately want undocumented democrats in the country for cheap labor, or white people don't want undocumented democrats in the country? 'cause we're not talking about illegal immigrants, we're talking about undocumented democrats that the democrats want to document. They want to register them to vote. Amnesty is the largest get-out-the-vote drive there's ever been in the country.

7/9/2010

rush
On McDonald's standing up to the Center for Science in the Public Interest.
By the way I want to shout out big time today to McDonald's ... McDonald's, I love ya ... you know the Center for Science in the Public Interest, this wacko bunch of leftist kooks ... their latest target was McDonald's Happy Meals – they wanted to sue McDonald's to remove the toys from the Happy Meal package ... it's a shame that something like what he (McDonald's CEO Jim Skinner) has done here has to be characterized as guts and courage. Not too long ago in this country, it would not have been unique for a CEO to tell some little pesky little bunch of maggots to leave him alone.

7/8/2010

limbaugh
On media news priorities and Donald Berwick.
Every cable news channel, every nightly newscast, had a story on Lindsay Lohan going to jail. Meanwhile you can't find any news about the oil spill ... you cannot find the truth about this Berwick guy, and the reason he was recess-appointed ... do you know why he was recess-appointed? He was not being blocked ... Normally recess appointments are when the opposing party will not even give the guy a hearing. The Republicans couldn't wait for hearings on this guy. They wanted to expose exactly what a left-wing redistributionist socialist he is. And the White House didn't want that.

7/7/2010

rush-limbaugh
On Obama's recess-appointment of Donald Berwick to serve as Administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
Berwick was nominated in April – no confirmation hearing (in the Senate) had even been scheduled. And there's a reason for that – the Democrats don't want the country hearing about this guy. The Democrats don't want this guy speaking in public hearings, just like they didn't want Elena Kagan telling everybody who she really is.

7/6/2010

rush
On the stimulus.
Only 43% of the stimulus has been spent. The stimulus is an Obama slush fund. And it will be spent, coming this fall, for reelection efforts for Democrats and in 2011 for Obama reelection efforts. It’s a slush fund.

7/5/2010

limbaugh
Previously-aired content was broadcast on July 5th.
So the regime inspected the (Deepwater Horizon) rig, they gave the rig its blessing, they said the rig was a model for all other rigs to follow. And the rig blew up. And we have all this oil flowing into the Gulf of Mexico. It seems to me that we need to halt inspections.

7/2/2010

limbaugh
On the difficulties faced by US companies in search of educated job applicants.
A significant portion of recent applicants fail to show that they could read and understand math at a ninth-grade level. The company has been disappointed by the quality of graduates from local training programs – but I'll bet you they know all about conflict resolution. And I'll bet you they've read that Heather has two mommies and Zeke has two dads. And I'll bet you they know all about how evil global warming is and how American corporations are destroying the planet. And I'll bet you they think that Al Gore is an oracle. And I'll bet you they think that "Big Oil" is the biggest enemy of the earth and the people, and I'll bet you they don't like the big drug companies and I'll bet you they hate Wall Street. But they can't do math at a ninth-grade level and they can't read at a ninth-grade level.

7/1/2010

limbaugh
On Elena Kagan's refusal to affirm the notion of "inalienable rights," as expressed in the Declaration of Independence.
Abraham Lincoln, who freed the slaves, held the Declaration (of Independence) above the constitution. Its ideals, at least. So it makes sense that those who seek to re-enslave us – loosely-defined – would feel the opposite way. They've convinced themselves that there is a "living, breathing" constitution – which means there's no constitution at all. The constitution is what they want it to be, at any given moment.

6/30/2010

limbaugh
On the state of private-sector job creation during the recession. Thirteen thousand. Thirteen thousand private-sector jobs, added in June. If you divide thirteen thousand by fifty – just for illustration purposes – you get 260 jobs created in the private sector per state. 260 jobs per state! This is Herbert Hoover-type stuff. Obama is Herbert Hoover. Except Hoover wasn't trying to do it. Obama is.

6/29/2010

limbaugh
On Elena Kagan's performance at her confirmation hearings.
The interesting thing is that she goes up there yesterday (with) her opening statement and tries to sound like Roberts and Alito, like a mainstream conservative jurist, which is fascinating because what it says is that that's what she and the White House think that she has to do in order to get confirmed. Or at least in order to fool the American people into believing she's not what she is.

6/28/2010

limbaugh
On the Supreme Court ruling against Chicago's gun ban.
The Supreme Court not only confirmed that the second amendment means what it says but it uses discrimination and abuses against blacks, post-civil-war, newly-freed slaves, to make their point ... the only downside is that there were four Supreme Court judges who voted against this. We are hanging by a thread here.

6/25/2010

limbaugh
On Barack Obama's vision of the United States and its proper place in the world.
The days of the U.S. economy being the gold standard of the world ... it's over! These people don't even want it to be. They don't like it that way. Because that made us too powerful, and we stole from the poor people all over the world. And we usurped all these great resources that the world offers. So now we're going to be cut down to size. I have warned you about this for 18 months. This regime exists to cut this country down to size.

6/24/2010

rush-limbaugh\
On Obama Replacing General McChrystal with General Petraeus in Afghanistan.
Obama has been maneuvered into a position where the only option is to win because that's what you go get Petraeus for. That's why you get rid of McChrystal. So now Obama's really screwed himself with the left-wing base because he's made it clear he's hired Bush's most hated General, the successful architect of Iraq, of the surge, counter-insurgency strategy and charged him with winning.

On the Obama Administration and the rule of law.
This administration and the rule of law are in direct conflict with one another. Now whether you want to call it a slush fund or a shakedown or escrow money or whatever, the Obama administration cannot constitutionally do what they did, demanding twenty billion dollars from BP. You can't go in - the federal government cannot just seize - somebody's property.

6/23/2010

limbaugh
On the mainstream media's attitude toward freedom.
You need to get used to the fact the media do not support liberty. They do not support the constitution. Nor do they support American exceptionalism. They are the water-carriers. They are the water-boys for the left in whatever form the left takes: activist judges, massive bureaucracies, presidential fiats as long as they're liberal.

6/22/2010

el-rushbo

On whether or not President Obama enjoys his job.
There was a blog today by a guy named Roger Simon ... claiming that Obama's bored, that he doesn't like the job – he may quit, or retire, not run for reelection. But he really doesn't enjoy the job ... now, with all due respect I think Obama loves his job. I think Obama's having the time of his life. I think Obama loves drilling moratoriums. I think he loves confiscating one-sixth of the U.S. economy and taking over health care. I think he loves getting even with this country. I think he loves punishing this country. I think he adores the opportunity to cut this country down to size. Because I know he was raised and educated to not like, and not approve of, this country.

6/21/2010

el-rushbo

Rush is back on the air after attending the wedding of a friend's daughter.

On media double standards in its coverage of the Gulf oil spill.
You people in the state-controlled media, you can go ahead and you can talk about Tony Hayward, the BP CEO being out there yachting. And you can go ahead and ignore the fact that Obama's playing golf, on Friday ... Obama is clearly not going to let an environmental disaster, or massive unemployment, the largest deficits in human history, Iran's nuclear arms race – none of that is going to get in the way of a round of golf.

6/18/2010

rush limbaugh

Douglas Urbanski is guest-hosting for Rush today.

On Barack Obama's mentor, Saul Alinsky.
Saul Alinsky's book (Rules for Radicals) is brilliant, in a kind of demented way ... it makes everything that Obama and his crew do absolutely understandable ... but it also makes clear ... that if they don't seize total control over everything – and don't think for a second that that's not what's in their minds – that the rules for radicals cannibalizes itself, that the new radicals are you and I today.
